What is Abenomics?

Abenomics, or Abe + economics is a term coined for the economic policies of Shinzō Abe, Japan’s current Prime Minister. The economic policies address Japan’s macroeconomic problems – monetary policy, fiscal policy, and economic growth strategies to encourage private investment.
Abenomics includes a “mix of reflation, government spending and a growth strategy designed to jolt the economy out of suspended animation that has gripped it for more than two decades.”
Policy details
-inflation targeting at a 2% annual rate
-correction of the excessive yen appreciation
-setting negative interest rates
-quantitative easing
-public investment
-revision of the Bank of Japan Act
Results so far
-the stock market is up 55%
-consumer spending pushed q1 2013 growth up 3.5%
-Shinzo Abe’s approval rating has risen to 70%
