Over the last quarter of 2012, the Yen has been dramatically declining thanks to the stimulus policies of the new Japanese Prime Minister. Why do we care? Well, Japan is still one of the biggest economies of the world. In the chart shown, we see that the astonishing rise in the Nikkei index correlates almost perfectly to the strength of USD/JPY.

Abenomics, or Abe + economics is a term coined for the economic policies of Shinzō Abe, Japan’s current Prime Minister. The economic policies address Japan’s macroeconomic problems – monetary policy, fiscal policy, and economic growth strategies to encourage private investment.
